Floras Lake Windsurfing ~ Kite Lessons

Kiteboarding is one of the fastest growing
sports around. Though easy to learn for some, it can be dangerous, as well. No matter what your prior experience is in any other water sport, kiting is very different! Because of these and other factors, it is extremely important to get yourself started with some quality kite instruction.

Will has been kiteboarding on Floras Lake and the southern Oregon coast for the past 10 years. His 30 years experience of windsurfing instruction now also includes kiteboarding instruction~since 2001.

Beginners get started flying a trainer kite on dry land to get the feel of flying and controlling the kite. From there, students learn to fly the kite in the water without a board, or "body-dragging". Once ready, the next step is getting on a board. There are several types of lessons available, depending on time you have available and/or prior kiteboarding experience.

Lesson Rates for 2008

*Kite I ~ Trainer Kite: $60 for 2 hours, includes 30 minutes of instruction & drills
Start with the basics. After some tips to get you started, work on your own with a trainer kite on dry land with harness.

*Kite II: $110/hour
Involves flying kite and body drags (without board) in the water, launching, water
re-launching and landings.

*Kite III: $110/hour
Board retrieval, waterstarts, kiteboarding with board and riding up and down-wind.

*Kite IV: Full 6 Hour Course - $575
Six hours of instruction over the course of 2-3 days, taking you from on-land training to riding a board,
kiting up wind and jumping.
Each additional hour after the 6 hours is $75/hour.

*We are very flexible in how your personal lesson is
structured. We work with you according to
YOUR pace and abilities. Our goal is the same as yours: to take you as far as possible!!

All kite lessons are private and are available for one student at a time. Lessons are given by Andy Bolt, Will or Jim and available on Floras Lake only.

Lessons include wetsuit, harness, appropriate kite for conditions, kiteboard and watercraft support.
If use your own kite and kiteboard for entire lesson,
you can reduce hourly price by $15.00.
